An
Overview of Glenn's History
Glenn Ivey was
raised in Rocky Mount, North Carolina and Dale City, Virginia. He
attended Gar-Field High School, where he was captain of the varsity
basketball team that went to the Virginia Regional Finals his senior
year.
Glenn then earned
his college degree from Princeton University in 1983, graduating
with honors.
He decided to
become an attorney, and graduated from Harvard Law School in 1986.
He then joined
the litigation department at the prestigious Baltimore law firm
of Gordon, Feinblatt, Rothman, Hoffberger & Hollander.

Glenn later
served as a federal prosecutor in Washington. As an Assistant U.S.
Attorney for the District of Columbia from 1990-1994, he handled
approximately 40 criminal jury trials, as well as numerous appeals
and grand jury investigations.
During his last
two years in office, he served under Eric Holder. Because of Glenn's
expertise in criminal law, he was selected to be an Adjunct Professor
of Law at the University of Maryland School of Law, and has made
numerous television appearances as a legal commentator on CNN's
Burden of Proof, BET's Tavis Smiley Show and the Fox cable network.

In
1988, Gov. Parris
Glendening appointed Glenn to be the Chairman of the Maryland
Public Service Commission, where he had jurisdiction over the electric,
telecommunications and gas industries in the state. Before that, Glenn
had extensive experience on Capitol Hill.
He has served as the Chief Counsel to U.S. Senate Majority Leader
Tom Daschle,
as Paul Sarbanes'
counsel to the Senate Whitewater Committee, and as Congressman John
Conyers' senior legislative assistant.
Glenn is currently a Partner at the Washington law firm of Preston,
Gates, Ellis & Rouvelas, Meeds, where he handles legislative,
regulatory and criminal matters. |

Glenn is or has been
a member of many organizations, including the Prince George's County Bar
Association, the J. Franklyn Bourne Bar Association, the Kiwanis Club
of Mitchellville and the Princeton Alumni Schools Committee. He has coached
youth teams at the Cheverly Boys and Girls Club. He is a member of the
Cheverly United Methodist Church.
Glenn moved to Prince George's County in 1988. He lives in Cheverly with
his wife, Jolene, and their five sons. He has a daughter from a previous
relationship.
